When we describe a book and/or dustwrapper's condition we sometimes use the following abbreviations...

Hardbacks

Mint : unused and unread
Fine : without flaws
VG : very good, but read
Good : good, but shows signs of wear
Poor : significant wear and deterioration

Old Paperbacks
(Thin paper wraps)

Modern Paperbacks
(Pictorial stiff card wraps)
